Everyone
Needs to listen to Periphery. Because there is so much tech metal goodness, also everyone needs a band with three guitarists and an epic amount of notes. End of.

Sonisphere
Have just announced another batch of bands to be playing this years UK edition of the festival at Knebworth, the bands confirmed are: Skunk Anansie Fightstar Gallows Funeral For A Friend Madina Lake Family Force 5 and Apocalyptica Two names really stand out for me in that, Apocalyptica and Gallows, but the announcement hasn’t really done enough to entice me quite yet, a couple...

Download Announcement #2
The other 2 headliners of this years download festival have been revealed as Aerosmith and Rage Against The Machine. These are 2 pretty huge bands, an added plus is that Aerosmith will be performing with Steven Tyler despite all the rumors stating otherwise. The other 5 bands to be announced were Stone Sour, Lamb of God, 5 Finger Death Punch, 30 Seconds to Mars and Billy Idol. Ignoring the...

Live Review
Lostprophets at the Portsmouth Guildhall 10-2-10 Lostprophets gave an efficient performance at the guildhall. It was technically proficient and every song was well played. The only problem I had was that the whole performance seemed to lack enthusiasm, there was a lack of banter from the band, they just ran through the set like they didnt really want to be there, and when they did take a break...

Download Anouncement
The first 9 bands of the download festival line up have been officialy named as: AC-DC Them Crooked Vultures Deftones Stone Temple Pilots Bullet For My Valentine Megadeth Motorhead Wolfmother Volbeat Not looking too bad so far. I am quite pleased with the inclusion of Deftones and Volbeat, as they were not on the list posted earlier. So yeah, only 5 months until the festival arrives,...

While I am here, I shall tell you that can now ask me things here. Chances are I will only answers questions about music, as that is the sole focus of this here blog. But anyway ask me stuff, you may be lucky enough to get an answer that is not full of venom and bile if you ask nicely enough.

MTV Acuses Brick Shit House of Taking Steroids
An article written on MTV has accused, among other musicians, Greg Puciato of Dillinger Escape Plan of taking steriods. This does not seem like a wise thing to do for several reasons: 1. He will kick the shit out of you 2. You admit to having no evidence 3. He will kick the shit out of you 4. He probably does spend all the down time you get while on tour working out and 5. He will kick the...

The 'holy shit how did I miss this band/album' of...
Goes to Baroness and their album ‘Blue Record’ Because I find myself asking how on earth I missed a release like this and a band like this. You should be asking yourself this very same question, unless you haven’t missed them, in which case I congratulate you.

Rip The Rev
While I may not be the biggest A7x fan I would like to think I know a talented musician when I see one. And thats what Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan was. A hugely talented musician who was taken before his time. An official statement from the band says: “It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan. Jimmy was not only one of...

Best of the Decade
To go along with the best of the year list you now get a list of what I believe to be the best albums of the decade. And there is an order this time, which means there is even more to disagree with. #10: Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake (2004) #9: Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing (2002) #8: Machine Head - The Blackening (2007) #7: Opeth - Blackwater Park (2001) #6: In Flames -...

My Most Favourite Albums of the Year In No...
I’m not going to you which are the best albums of the year, because everyone and their dog thinks they know that. Instead I will tell you my favourite albums, which you can’t argue with and therefore are right, so they actually are the best albums of the year. Mastodon - Crack the Skye: Pretty much perfect. Muse - The Resistance: Beautiful, with the bellamy style oddness that makes...

Gigs
I have spent nearly £80 on gig tickets in the past week, this equates to 10 weeks of my budget, which means I have pretty much no money that I am willing to spend for the next 10 weeks. This is on just 2 gigs, one of which is muse and the other is mastodon, both are bands that i love and have always wanted to see. I still may need to pay for the lostprophets gig that i think i am going to. The...

Slayer Postpone UK/Europe Tour
And I am extrememly Dissapointed. Due to Vocalist/Bassist Tom Araya’s current health problems slayer have had to postpone the planned UK/Euope tour until March, while this displeases me greatly as it would have been my first time seeing slayer and it was less than two weeks away I would rather see slayer at full strength that with a not fully fit Tom Araya. That and the fact that that if...

New Metalocalypse
Metalocalypse is quite possibly one of the finest shows on tv today, not only because it is the most metal show ever, but because it is a genuinely funny show that is very well written. The third series began a couple of weeks ago and I found out the other day that they have extended the episode times from 12 minutes to a full half hour time slot, this was cause for much celebration as it means...

Best Rap Ever →
Not normally the kind of music I post about here, but I like to think I can appreciate some good music no mater what the genre. Also, apologies for no song of the week on saturday, I may have been too hungover from friday to bother.

And listen to an album by a band that includes ex-killswitch engage vocalist Jesse Leach. I was pleasantly surprised by the album, it doesnt sounds like another attempt at alive or just breathing. It really shows what leach can do with his voice, he didnt always do that will killswitch. I am also just plain happy that he is back into music and good stuff at that.

yfky: For some reason I have decided to start to do a review kind of thing every now and then on here for albums that i quite like or that i have been looking forward to. I’m not entirely sure how i should do this but i think i will go for a fairly short review for now and see how i feel about the format once I. This seems to me almost an amalgamation of the two previous albums as it seems to...
