Gigs

I have spent nearly £80 on gig tickets in the past week, this equates to 10 weeks of my budget, which means I have pretty much no money that I am willing to spend for the next 10 weeks. This is on just 2 gigs, one of which is muse and the other is mastodon, both are bands that i love and have always wanted to see. I still may need to pay for the lostprophets gig that i think i am going to. The lesson I have learned from this: Gigs are expensive, especially when you factor in merch and travel, but they are oh so worth it.

Song of the Week:

Lamb of God - Broken Hands

From their most recent album Wrath, this is one of the standout songs as it has everything that you could want from a Lamb of God song.

Slayer Postpone UK/Europe Tour

And I am extrememly Dissapointed.

Due to Vocalist/Bassist Tom Araya’s current health problems slayer have had to postpone the planned UK/Euope tour until March, while this displeases me greatly as it would have been my first time seeing slayer and it was less than two weeks away I would rather see slayer at full strength that with a not fully fit Tom Araya. That and the fact that that if he were to go ahead with the tour he may risk further injury and put the whole band’s fututre at risk. So while I am not pleased about the delay I can live with it

New Metalocalypse

Metalocalypse is quite possibly one of the finest shows on tv today, not only because it is the most metal show ever, but because it is a genuinely funny show that is very well written.

The third series began a couple of weeks ago and I found out the other day that they have extended the episode times from 12 minutes to a full half hour time slot, this was cause for much celebration as it means you get almost twice as much metalocalypse as before, which can only be a good thing.

Song of the week:

Architects - Hollow Crown

The title track of a stunning album that only seems to get better with time. It also contains some of the few lyrics that I feel I can genuinely relate to, which coming from an emotionally dead person like myself is quite high praise I think.
I implore you, if you listen to just one thing that recommend please let it be this.

Song of the week comes in video form today because the upload limit wont let me stick a nine minute long song up, how very silly.
Anyway the song of the week is Bleak by Opeth
The reasoning for this is quite simple really, Opeth rule and this song is pretty much the ultimate Opeth song.

To get things on here up and running I am going to be declaring a song of the week each saturday. This week it is going to be:

Muse - Plug in Baby

This was chosen as song of the week because it shows that Matt Bellamy is a seriously awesome guitar player. And we must never forget that no matter how wierd and wonderful the music that comes from the mind of this man.
